I would say, yes.
You can get all Hindi channels in Rs. 270 base pack for all DTH brands like Tata Play, Airtel DTH, or Videocon DTH. South regional channels can be subscribed for even lower at Rs. 200 per month. Whereas, if you want English channels, the base pack starts at Rs. 400–500 per month. Even the add ons are expensive. English channels are sold as premiums on all DTH platforms.
The only reason I could think of it is that DTH companies believe that customers demanding English channels belong to the high-income group and won’t mind paying additional bucks.
