This is the part almost nobody else does. A set-top box on its own is not a working television: the dish has to be mounted, pointed at the satellite to within a fraction of a degree, and scanned. Our own installation team does that at your home, and we have been fitting DTH connections across India since 2004.

Once the box reaches you, send a message on WhatsApp 9729991794 and the technician is scheduled — normally within 24 hours. We track deliveries at our end as well, so you are not left chasing anyone.

Why the dish antenna comes separately

The antenna is never sent by courier. A dish that has been through a parcel network arrives bent, and a bent dish will not hold signal. The technician brings a new antenna, mounts it, aligns it, runs the channel scan, and leaves only once the channels are running on your screen.

Already have a dish from another DTH brand?

Then you may not need a new one at all. A dish put up for Tata Play, Dish TV or any other DTH brand receives DD Free Dish perfectly well — it only has to be re-aligned to the DD Free Dish satellite, GSAT-15 at 93.5°E. In that case the box on its own is the cheaper buy: most people align the dish themselves, and if you would rather not, our technician will align it for Rs 300. Message us on WhatsApp 9729991794.

What arrives, and what the technician brings

Older television with no HDMI socket? Tell us before dispatch and we send an RCA cable in place of the HDMI, so it works with your set from the first day.

What you can watch

Over 150 free-to-air television channels and 48 Akashvani radio services, including the Doordarshan national and regional channels, general entertainment in Hindi and several regional languages, news, films, music, devotional and children's channels — plus 11 HD channels, which only an MPEG-4 receiver can decode. What it does not carry is the paid premium content — the subscription sport and film channels. That is the trade for never paying a monthly bill again.

Frequently asked questions

I already have a dish. Who will align it?

Most people who buy the box on its own align an existing dish themselves - it is a small adjustment. If you would rather have it done, our technician will align it for Rs 300. Message us on WhatsApp 9729991794 and we will send you the steps first so you can try it yourself.

How soon will it be installed?

Normally within 24 hours of the box reaching you. Message us on WhatsApp 9729991794 once it is delivered and the technician is scheduled. We track deliveries at our end too.

Do you install everywhere in India?

Yes. We have our own installation network across India and have been fitting DTH connections since 2004.

Is there really no monthly charge?

None. DD Free Dish is free-to-air. You pay once for the hardware and installation, and there is no recharge at any point after that.

I already have a Tata Play or Dish TV dish. Can I use it?

Yes. Any DTH dish will receive DD Free Dish once it is re-aligned to the DD Free Dish satellite, GSAT-15 at 93.5 degrees East. Tell us on WhatsApp and we will guide you.

What if my television has no HDMI socket?

Tell us before dispatch and we send an RCA cable instead of the HDMI cable.

How much cable is included?

Ten metres, with the RG6 connectors. More is rarely needed; if your house does need extra it is charged at Rs 12 per metre.

Are the premium paid channels included?

No. Free-to-air means the free channels only. For premium sport or film channels you would need a Tata Play or Dish TV connection.

Do I pay the whole amount online?

No. Rs 199 books it, Rs 1,901 goes to the courier when the box arrives, and Rs 1,100 to the technician once it is installed. You may also pay Rs 3,199 online in one go.

What is the warranty on the box?

One year, from Yash Retail (Online DTH). For a claim the box comes to our office and we send it back; we bear the courier both ways.
